Parents

Parents are KEY to our Program because Scouting is a family-oriented activity. You will see in each rank a host of opportunities to share experiences with your Scout and talk about what your family thinks about various topics and values.

Parents are expected to attend Cub Scout events with their Scouts. Lions and Tigers (our youngest) Cubs are REQUIRED to have a parent/guardian register alongside to serve as a mentor and partner. Both BSA and Archdiocese of Mobile Child Protection rules require at least two adults who have been background checked and trained to be in attendance at any Cub Scout Pack or Den event. For older Cub Scouts, as long as that is the case, parents are able to drop off their Scout if occasional scheduling conflict occurs.

Attendance at each event is important. We strive to pack a ton into each meeting, and missing a Den Meeting or Pack Meeting will significantly impact your Scout’s ability to achieve his Rank for the year. That said, when absences are necessary, we will work with parents to ensure their Scout gets caught up and back on track.

As parents, we are our child’s first and biggest advocates. While the Cub Scout curriculum puts a heavy focus on developing personal responsibility and other values in our sons, they are able to learn and do so much more when actively supported in their achievements by parents.
