First Grade: Tigers

While the Lion rank serves as an introduction to Scouting, Tigers begin working on completing Scout requirements in earnest.

Tigers begin by earning the Bobcat Rank, which requires knowing the Scout sign, handshake, motto, oath, and law. Knowing the purposes and goals of a Cub Scout helps Tigers approach Adventures with the right mental and emotional attitude.

Earning the Tiger Badge requires Scouts to complete six required Adventures and one elective Adventure of the Scout’s choice. Tigers work with an adult partner (usually a parent or guardian) to complete each Adventure. While most of the activities for these Adventures takes place at Den Meetings and Outings, some aspects of some Adventures may take place at home (the Duty to God Adventure, for example).

Required Tiger Adventures

  • Games Tigers Play (Focus: Physical Fitness)
  • My Tiger Jungle (Focus: Nature Knowledge)
  • Team Tiger (Focus: Teamwork & Community)
  • Tiger Bites (Focus: Nutrition)
  • Tiger Circles: Duty to God (Focus: Personal Faith/Service to Others)
  • Tigers in the Wild (Focus: Outdoor Skills)

When Tigers complete Adventures, they earn awards. Each award takes the form of a belt loop that Tigers can add to their uniform belt and wear to display their progress toward earning the Tiger rank badge.
