Second Grade: Wolves

Wolf Scouts continue learning in many of the areas they began as Tiger Scouts. That doesn’t mean you can’t jump right into scouting in Second Grade, though.

All new Scouts begin by earning their Bobcat Rank, the requirements of which include reciting and learning the various oaths, codes, and signs of Cub Scouting.

Wolf Scouts complete six required adventures to earn the Wolf Rank, along with one elective of the Scout’s choosing. Most of the activities included in these adventures take place during Den Meetings and Den Outings, but some Adventures are better suited to one-on-one work with a parent or guardian (the Duty to God Footsteps Adventure, for example).

Catholic Cub Scouts in our Pack also work to earn the Light of Christ medal, which is awarded by the National Catholic Council on Scouting. If your Scout isn’t Catholic, we are happy to investigate and assist with earning religious emblems from other faiths, as well.

Required Tiger Adventures

  • Call of the Wild: Focuses on outdoor skills and safety.
  • Council Fire: Focuses on responsibility, patriotism, and community.
  • Duty to God Footsteps: Focuses on faith and service.
  • Howling at the Moon: Focuses on teamwork and communication.
  • Paws on the Path: Focuses on nature knowledge.
  • Running with the Pack: Focuses on individual and team sports.

When Wolves complete Adventures, they earn awards. Each award takes the form of a belt loop that Wolves can add to their uniform belt and wear to display their progress toward earning the Wolf rank badge. Additionally, the Light of Christ Medal and BSA Religious Knot badge can be worn on the uniform shirt, once earned.
